Luana DeVol's transition into the
Hoch-Dramatisch Fach occured in the Fall of 1996 with her debut as
Isolde in Wagner's
TRISTAN UND ISOLDE
in a new production directed by
renowned singer and opera director Brigitte Fassbaender and conducted
by
Philippe
Augin.
In June 1997 she was chosen by director Willy
Decker for his new production in Leipzig (Photo lef) with Jiri Kout conducting.
For her portrayal of Isolde in Leipzig, as well as that of Elektra in
Basel, she was named
SINGER OF THE YEAR 1997
in the European opera magazine,
OPERN WELT.
Subsequently she has appeared as Isolde
in the theaters of Stuttgart under Gabriel Ferro, Dresden with
Christoph Prick, Munich (Photo left by kind permisson of Anne Kirchbach) and the Salzburg Festspiel with Lorin
Maazel (Photo below), Antwerp and
Ghent
under Silvio Varviso, and in Berlin with Christian Thielemann.

she sang Isolde in Mannheim conducted by Adam Fischer.
