GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG 

Luana DeVol made her role debut as Brünnhilde in Richard Wagner's GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG at the Teatro alla Scala with Ricardo Muti conducting Janos Kokkos' new production in December 1998.  Wolfgang Schmidt was Siegfried, Kurt Rydl the Hagen, Waltraut Meier the Waltraute.

She subsequently was heard as Brünnhilde in concert in the cities of Rome and Linz.

In the 2001 Bayreuth Festspiel Luana DeVol assumed the role of the Brünnhilde to universal critical and public acclaim.

Luana DeVol was named Singer of the Year 2000  

for her portrayal of Brünnhilde in the Stuttgart production.

On March 12, 2000 

the Premiere of her Brünnhilde in Peter Konwitschny's highly anticipated production of the opera took place at the Württembergische Staatsoper in Stuttgart.

This performance was taped live and broadcasted several times in europe. Later the material was released on DVD.

"The Stuttgart Opera was named for the third time in a row Opera House of the Year.  Main reasons were the staging of GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the chorus, and the impressive Bruennhilde of Luana DeVol."
